Come see the site where Elvis Presley and thousands of other GIs
got their first Army haircut!
Walk through the building where Elvis,
surrounded by photographers and journalists,
got his iconic hair cut off when he joined the Army to serve his country!
Hours:
Year round, the Chaffee Barbershop Museum is open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Museum is wheelchair accessible.
Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
Directions to the Chaffee Barbershop Museum:
- Take I-40 to Fort Smith/Van Buren (Exit 7)
- Take I-540 South to Exit 3 (Fort Chaffee) to AR-59.
- Turn left onto Hwy. 59 South.
- Follow Hwy. 59 South through Barling, to the stop light at Hwy. 22.
- After crossing Hwy. 22, turn left on Taylor Ave.
- Follow Taylor Ave. to Terry St.
- Turn right on Terry St. and follow it to the Chaffee Barbershop Museum on the left
