Artist Lecture: M. Speer

Join us for a lecture with Artist Margaret Speer Carter as she dives into her current exhibition on display: M. Speer: An Artist's Journey.

Upon graduating with language degrees from Colorado College, Fort Smith native Margaret Speer Carter took her first art course at the Fort Worth Fine Arts School. She created a sculpture of an “old man” and was hooked.

She continued to learn at art schools in Colorado, New Mexico and New York, but says her first real art teacher was Casimir Rutkowski; first director of the Fort Smith Art Center.
